Manchester’s grammar schools: Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Sale Grammar School, Stretford Grammar School, Urmston Grammar School, Saint Ambrose College, and Loreto Grammar School.

Altrincham Boys, Altrincham Girls, Sale Grammar, Stretford Grammar and Urmston Grammar are members of the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium. They all use the same 11 plus exam and have the same key dates.

Saint Ambrose College and Loreto Grammar School are independent from this group. They have their own exams and testing processes.

• 21st June 2024: Trafford Consortium 11+ registration closes

• 12th July 2024: Saint Ambrose College 11+ registration closes

• 31st July 2024: Loreto Grammar School entrance exam registration closes

• 16th September 2024: Trafford Consortium 11+ exam day

• 20th September 2024: entrance exams at Loreto Grammar School and Saint Ambrose College

• Mid-October 2024: parents receive Trafford Consortium and Loreto Grammar School results

• 21st October 2024: latest date for Saint Ambrose College results to be sent to parents

• 31st October 2024: secondary school common application deadline

• 3rd March 2025: national school offers day

How to know if your child is on track to pass?

We advise that Manchester 11 plus pupils who are consistently scoring around the 80 to 85% mark (or higher!) will pass the Manchester grammar school 11 plus exam.
