Welcome to our latest guest post, Nurturing Futures through Islamic and Inclusive Education.
Inclusive education and Islamic Education
Mufida Al Digeil is an education consultant, trainer, and life coach with over 20 years of experience across British, American, and IB schools in the UAE and beyond. She holds a BA in Islamic Studies, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education.
Mufida specializes in designing research-based Islamic education programs, coaching educators, and delivering transformational workshops on leadership, parenting, and personal growth. She is the founder of a growing consultancy that serves schools, nurseries, and educators across the Middle East and East Africa.
Mufida’s career path and learning journey
For over two decades, I’ve had the immense privilege of working across classrooms, communities, and countries, guiding learners from toddlers to adults. My journey into education was not a mere career choice — it was a calling. From the outset, I felt a strong sense of purpose in shaping minds, hearts, and characters.
My foundation began with a BA in Islamic Studies, which later evolved through a Master’s in Educational Leadership and currently, a Doctorate in Education. But degrees alone don’t shape an educator — stories do. And my story has been one of transformation, reflection, and commitment to building learning spaces that truly serve students.
Early Education to Lifelong Coaching
My early years were spent in the classroom, but I quickly gravitated toward leadership and teacher development. I saw the gaps — especially for Islamic Studies educators — who often left university with content knowledge but without the pedagogical tools to bring that knowledge to life. I took it upon myself to bridge that gap.
Through workshops, coaching, and curriculum design, I began working with schools to elevate the quality of teaching. I led teacher training sessions across UAE schools, worked with GEMS Education, and eventually became a voice in national conversations on curriculum reform. I designed research-based and project-based learning modules rooted in Islamic pedagogy — ensuring our classrooms didn’t just inform but transformed.
From Classrooms to Consultancy
In recent years, I launched my own consultancy. This offers tailored support to nurseries, schools, and teachers across the Gulf and East Africa. I’ve facilitated workshops on parenting (like NurtureHer), corporate communication (including training with Visa), and leadership. My approach is deeply human — integrating cognitive theory, emotional intelligence, and spiritual development. Whether I’m coaching a principal or mentoring a young teacher, the heart of the work is always the same: empowering others.
What makes my work unique is my ability to merge classical Islamic education with modern methodologies. I don’t just talk about Bloom’s taxonomy or Montessori — I show educators how the Prophet ﷺ embodied these principles centuries ago.
Global Reach, Personal Touch
During the pandemic, like many educators, I went digital — and the reach expanded. From online courses on teaching Islamic education to live sessions for women in Kenya, I’ve continued supporting learners and educators beyond borders. Now, I’m building my digital presence on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. I am making high-quality training accessible to all.
Each success story — a teacher’s breakthrough, a student’s newfound love for learning, a parent finally understanding their teenager — fuels my drive. I believe education should be a journey, not a destination. A journey that touches the intellect and the soul.
Summary themes
From the traditional madrasa to modern classrooms, my path has always been guided by one belief: learning is sacred. It’s not just about what we know, but about who we become. I’m deeply grateful to be part of this lifelong mission — and to continue helping learners, educators, and families transform not just their outcomes, but their lives.
