Who is it for?

These practice tests are specifically designed for students taking the ISEB Common Pretest.

How will these tests benefit my child?

Mathematics is one of the four modules in the ISEB Common Pretest.

We’ve analysed the full ISEB Pretest Mathematics syllabus and created topic specific tests to address all the areas your child needs to cover:

  • Algebra

  • Sequences
  • Special Numbers

If you’ve taken any of our ISEB Pretest Practice Tests, you will have noticed that each maths question is tagged with the relevant topic from the list above. Therefore, if your child is struggling with a specific topic, you will be able to identify it quickly and then use these new, topic specific tests to improve these weaker areas.

For each topic, we’ve created three tests:

Level 1 – 20 questions. These are relatively simple questions to help familiarise your child with the key concepts of each question type. Depending on the school you are targeting, your child should aim to score 80-90%+ in Level 1 tests.

Level 2 – 20 questions. These are more challenging questions that require a little more thought and technique. Depending on the school you are targeting, your child should aim to score 70-80%+ in Level 2 tests.

Level 3 – 20 questions. These are advanced questions that represent the upper level of difficulty on the adaptive scale. Depending on the school you are targeting, your child should aim to score 60-70%+ in Level 3 tests.

Click the green button at the top of this page to view all the topics in detail.

Detailed explanations are provided for every single question so your child can learn and improve.

Each test is timed at the pace your child will need to match to do well in the actual exam.

The tests are presented via an interface that uses exactly the same layout and design as the actual exam.

The 54 practice tests included in this product are designed to help your child master ISEB Pretest Mathematics so they:

– are familiar with every Mathematics topic that could come up on exam day.

– can answer these questions accurately and efficiently.

– will face no surprises when taking the actual exam.

ISEB Pre-Tests option 4 – for children needing specific ISEB skills practice

Full ISEB Practice Tests vs ISEB Skill Practice Tests

Full Practice Tests cover all the modules you can expect to appear on your child’s exam, providing a comprehensive simulation of the actual test. You can think of them effectively as online mock exams.

It’s an excellent way for your child to get a feel for the entire exam. By taking a Full Practice Test, your child can:

  • Experience a mock test environment at home.
  • Identify their overall strengths and weaknesses.
  • Gain confidence in managing timings and stamina

Skill Practice Tests

Once you’ve worked through some of our Full Practice Tests, you may notice that your child finds specific topics or subjects harder than others.

This is where Skill Practice tests come in handy.

They are designed to focus on one specific module or topic that can appear in a particular test. They are often broken down into shorter, timed sections that can be completed individually.

These are perfect for your child to concentrate on areas they find challenging without having to complete a full test. The benefits include:

  • Concentrated practice on difficult topics.
  • Efficient use of study time by targeting weaker areas.
  • Improved skills in particular modules before re-attempting a full practice test.

Can you provide some examples of how to use Full Practice Tests and Skill Practice Tests?

CAT4: If your child takes CAT4 Level C Test 1 here, and finds the Figure Recognition difficult, we would recommend taking a look at our CAT4 Level C Figure Recognition Skill Practice product here.

These Skill Practice tests will provide focused, targeted practice of all the question types that your child needs to be aware of in these topics.

One other way to quickly identify which Skill Practice Tests to focus on is to check your child’s completed Full Practice Test where you can see their scores and ranking statistics.

In this test, for example, the student scored 12/36 in the ISEB Verbal Reasoning module, which is below average based on the statistics on the right:
